History
Dick Casull began developing his stretched, high-pressure .45 Colt in the late 1950s, but the cartridge only reached factory form when Freedom Arms built a revolver for it in 1983. It roughly doubled the .44 Magnum's energy and re-set the bar for production revolver power. Ruger's Super Redhawk brought it to the mainstream in the late 1990s.
