How credits work
- 1 credit = 1 loadout scan. Up to 5 photos of one kit count as a single scan — angles and close-ups make the ID better, not pricier.
- Failed scans refund themselves. If the pipeline errors out, the credit goes back on your balance automatically.
- Credits never expire and there is no subscription.

Why it costs anything at all
Every scan runs frontier vision AI, and that costs us real money per scan — currently about 12–20¢ depending on how much is in the photo. We don't run ads and we don't sell data, which means the only honest way to keep the scanner alive is you paying a fair price for it. The credits are that price: enough over cost to keep the lights on and the catalog growing, and nothing hidden anywhere else.
“Why not just use Google Lens? It's free.”
Fair question — Lens is genuinely great, and if it answers your question, use it. Lens will nail an energy drink can every time. Where it falls down is exactly where we live: it sees “a plate carrier,” we call the JPC and the shingle sewn to it. It sees “camouflage,” we read the pattern against 124 documented camos with the era and region to back it up. We flag likely clones, score our own confidence instead of bluffing, read the whole loadout as one kit, and hand you prices and a kit builder at the end. Specialists cost money. Search engines are free. Both are fine tools.
