Understand it first
The IFAK, honestly
What belongs in a trauma kit, the counterfeit problem, and why training beats gear.
Survival priorities, straight from the field manual
The rule of threes, fire, water, and signaling — what FM 3-05.70 actually teaches, minus the TV drama.
Civil unrest: getting home and staying out of it
The whole strategy is distance — leave early, route around, and be somewhere else when it gets bad.
The first 72 hours without power
The order things break in, what the food in your fridge is actually doing, and what $50, $200, and $500 each buy.
Water when the tap stops
How much to keep, how to make questionable water safe, and the real difference between a filter and a purifier.
Shelter and hypothermia: the three-hour problem
Why the ground takes more heat than the sky, what hypothermia looks like before it looks like anything, and what shelter trades.
The 72-hour kit, item by item
The baseline list with the reasoning attached, what it honestly weighs, and what $150, $250, and $500 each cover.
Staying put: the first month
Bug-in is not bug-out. The water arithmetic, the pantry, the power, and the paperwork for keeping a household at home for about a month.
Field skills: knots, fire, shelter, water, signaling
The five that carry the most weight outdoors, why each one fails, and what this page leaves out on purpose.
