History
Introduced in 1895 for the Winchester Model 1894, the .30-30 was America's first smokeless-powder sporting cartridge. Paired with light, handy lever actions, it became the classic deer cartridge east of the Mississippi and has accounted for more whitetails than perhaps any other round. Flat-nose bullets for tube magazines defined its look until Hornady's flexible-tip loads bent that rule.
