.300 Winchester Magnum

History

Winchester introduced the .300 Win Mag in 1963, fitting near-.300 H&H performance into a standard-length action. It became the most popular .30-caliber magnum for elk, moose, and long-range work, and US military snipers adopted it for extended-range precision rifles like the M2010. It's the default answer when hunters say they want 'more than an '06.'
