7mm Remington Magnum
The classic Western elk-and-mule-deer magnum — flat, proven, and a bit of a barrel-heater, with recoil in the firm-handshake class.

History
Remington launched the 7mm Magnum in 1962 alongside the new Model 700 rifle, and the pairing made both famous. It offered flatter trajectories and better wind performance than the .30-06 with tolerable recoil, becoming the Western hunter's magnum of choice for decades. It still sells strongly against newer 7mm rivals.
