History
The US bought HyperStealth's proprietary Spec4ce Forest pattern for the Afghan National Army from around 2008. A 2017 SIGAR report criticized both the licensing cost and the choice of a woodland scheme for Afghanistan's largely arid terrain. The ANA's 2021 collapse retired it.
In the field
A US watchdog report famously noted the licensed forest pattern was chosen by preference for a country that is mostly not forest, at extra cost.
