History
Adopted in 2008 as the Navy Working Uniform Type I, a blue-grey digital meant to hide wear and stains rather than sailors. It drew criticism over comfort, flammability concerns, and the obvious problem that it resembled the sea. The Navy retired it in 2019 in favor of the green NWU Type III.
In the field
Notorious for matching the ocean rather than anything useful; retired after a decade of jokes about hiding sailors who fell overboard.
