History
Designed in 1948 by the US Army Engineer Research and Development Laboratories but shelved until the Vietnam War, when it was issued from 1967 to troops in-country. It came in green-dominant lowland and brown-dominant highland colorways. M81 Woodland is a direct enlargement of ERDL and replaced it in 1981.
In the field
Effective in dense green jungle; the smaller blotches read as texture at distance.
